Bishop Roper

I have neglected keeping up on recording our life here on the blog because our life has been going by so fast that I can’t seem to find time to sit and write it down!

And, it actually just got a lot busier…

Glenn was called as the bishop of our ward at church two weeks ago.  For me it came as quite a surprise since I never intended to stay in this area long term, we are pretty young, and Glenn is traveling so much for work.  We have already stayed in Highlands Ranch longer than I anticipated we would, but it is looking like we have another few great years ahead of us here.  A bishop here is typically expected to serve for 5 years, so I guess it is time to settle in!

The ward has been extremely supportive, which is very nice since I feel a bit young to be in this position.  I have had many people offer to sit with our family at church while Glenn is sitting up on the stand.  People have brought us cards, goodies, and even dinner!  In some ways life as the “almost bishop” when we knew what was going to happen but nobody else did was harder than the actual busy schedule with Glenn as the bishop!  Those bags under our eyes in the picture were well earned- we spent the week before not sleeping so well.  The people in our ward have really been a blessing in helping us feel confident and loved.

Glenn will do a great job.  He loves the people in our ward and he loves the Lord, so that seems like a pretty good recipe for success!  The people who live in our ward are great people who are unselfish and talented.  So, now that we’re two weeks into it, I can say thus far it has been great!  Busy and slightly overwhelming, but great!

So, I guess I’ll be updating this blog from good ole’ Highlands Ranch for the foreseeable future!
