There is a silver lining to having Derek and Evan gone all day. I get to spend a lot more quality time with Adam and Amelia. I think Adam benefits from it the most, and he really likes having most of my attention.
This morning while Amelia was taking a nap, I decided to sit down and practice reading with Adam. This is something I don’t do often enough, but reading is a big love in our family, so I try to fit it in when I can. Adam is just starting to get to the point where he can sound out 3 letter words. He read “SAT,” “BAT,” and “HAT,” then I told him if he could read the next one he would win the game and we would be done. He easily read “FAT.” Feeling proud, I tickled him and said, “Who taught you to read, anyway?”
Adam, also feeling proud, smiled and said, “The girl…..” then paused. I smugly thought, “The girl sitting next to you on the couch right now.” Then Adam finished. “The girl on Daddy’s ipad.”
Curse that ipad for always getting all the credit!
