Evan got glasses a few days ago. He spends about 40% of his time wearing them and 60% of his time wiping them down with the lens cloth and carefully putting them in and taking them out of the case. Last night he decided he wouldn’t wear them at school (which is the main reason for having them according to the eye doctor). At first he said he was afraid glasses aren’t allowed at school, but pretty soon the truth came out that he was afraid nobody would want to play with him. It kind of broke my heart a little since I got glasses in 3rd grade and know the feeling of nerdiness that comes with them. Derek was really sweet about encouraging him and even told him the captain of the 2nd grade recess soccer team wears glasses and everybody wants to play with him. Every once in awhile big brothers are good for something! Hopefully that helped! He picked those glasses out and stubbornly refused to even consider anything other frames, so hopefully that means he’ll wear them!
